Clankland Hockey: Red vs Blue arcade hockey
Three on three. No penalties. Bodies fly into the glass, the glass breaks, the crowd loses it. Score twice in a row and you're on fire. Play the computer, or send a friend a link and play them live.
One rink, one button to start. A game is three 2-minute periods: about seven minutes.
Arcade hockey, cranked up
Huge body checks
Hold โ to wind up, then flatten anybody, puck or no puck. Players cartwheel through the air, the boards boom and the camera shakes. The biggest hits go to slow motion.
Glass that breaks
Throw someone into the glass hard enough and it cracks. Harder still and it shatters, shards everywhere, crowd on its feet.
On fire
Score two in a row with the same skater and he catches fire: faster, harder shots, bigger hits, until the other team scores.
One-timers and slap shots
Hold Shoot for a full wind-up slap shot, or hit Shoot as a pass arrives for a one-timer the goalie never sees.
Dekes and spin moves
Press โณ with the puck to spin out of a check, or without it to poke the puck away. Cut across the crease and the goalie bites on the deke.
A loud building
A crowd that roars with every hit, a goal horn, a goal light, an organ and an announcer. All made live in your browser.
How to play
- Pick a game. Play the computer starts at once. Challenge a friend gives you a link to send.
- You're the skater with the ring under him. You always have the puck carrier. On defense the game hands you whoever is nearest the puck, or switch yourself.
- Skate, pass, shoot. Tap โก for a quick wrist shot, or hold it and let go for a slap shot. Hit โก right as a pass gets to you for a one-timer.
- Hit everything. There are no penalties. Press โ to throw a check, or hold it to wind up a bigger one. A hit knocks the puck loose.
- Win the game. Three 2-minute periods. Tied after three? Sudden-death overtime.

Play a friend online, by link
Tap Challenge a friend and send the link by text, chat or anything else. When your friend opens it, they're Blue and you're Red, live, on the same ice: the same score, the same hits, the same broken glass. No accounts and nothing to install, and it works phone to phone, computer to computer, or one of each.
Waiting is fine: play the computer while your link travels, and the real game starts the moment they arrive. If someone's connection drops, the computer plays their team until they're back.
Play at a real rink
Clankland is a free 3D map of the real world with real streets and buildings. Walk up to any ice rink or hockey arena on the map, from your town's community rink to the big downtown arenas, and a ๐ Play hockey button pops up. The game puts that rink's name on the scoreboard. It's on the in-game phone too: open the ๐ Hockey app.
Questions
Is Clankland Hockey free?
Yes. It's free to play in any browser, with no download, no account and no ads in the game.
How do I play hockey against a friend online?
Tap Challenge a friend and send them the link. When they open it they play Blue against your Red, live. It works phone to phone, computer to computer, or one of each.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On a phone you get a thumbstick for your left thumb and four buttons in a diamond on the right, laid out like a PlayStation pad: โ pass, โก shoot, โ check, โณ spin or poke check. It plays in portrait or landscape.
What are the controls on a computer?
WASD or the arrow keys skate. Space or a left click shoots: tap for a wrist shot, hold and let go for a slap shot. E passes, or switches skater on defense. F or a right click checks; hold it to wind up a bigger hit. Q spins with the puck and poke checks without it. A gamepad maps the same way: A, X, B and Y are โ, โก, โ and โณ.
Are there penalties, icing or offsides?
No. It's arcade hockey: hit anybody, any time, and the play never stops except for goals and the end of a period.
How do you get on fire?
Score two goals in a row with the same skater. He catches fire: faster, harder shots and bigger hits, and goalies can barely see his shots, until the other team scores.
How long is a game?
Three two-minute periods, about seven minutes in all. A tie goes to sudden-death overtime: next goal wins.
What if my friend's connection drops?
The computer takes over their team right away, and gives it back when they reconnect. If the host leaves for good, the guest finishes the game against the computer.
Can I play at a real rink?
Yes. Clankland is a 3D map of the real world. Walk up to any ice rink or hockey arena on the map and a Play hockey button appears: the game puts that rink's name on the scoreboard.
